For a sunny summer's day, this Greek Chicken Gyros recipe is the perfect lunch to make! It's juicy, aromatic, and simply delicious!

AD - I've teamed up with NINJA to create the most delicious Greek Chicken Gyros with the help of their Ninja MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer. In their Air Fryer, it only takes 16 minutes to cook the chicken and chips compared to a conventional oven which usually takes between 25-40 minutes! I'd highly recommend getting yourself one, HERE!
What you'll need for this Chicken Gyros Recipe
After traveling around Greece for two months, Chicken Gyros became the ultimate snack that I would eat nearly every day! It's filling yet refreshing and is a first-class crowd-pleaser.
To draw out all of the flavour from the chicken, you'll want to marinate it in a Greek-style sauce.
- Garlic
- Mixed herbs
- Salt
- Olive oil
- Lemon juice
- Black pepper
Once your chicken has been marinating for around 20 minutes, you can slot them onto skewers. For perfect crispy chicken, get your Ninja MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer and transfer the chicken skewers into one of its compartments.
Before you begin cooking your chicken, you'll want to prepare your homemade chips. Get a couple of potatoes and slice them into 1cm thick wedges. Toss them in olive oil, salt, and pepper, then place them into the other Ninja MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer compartment.
Simply turn on your Ninja Air Fryer, set the temperature to 200C for 16 minutes, and press MATCH, so that both the chicken and the chips begin and end cooking at the same time. You'll end up with super crispy chicken and gorgeously cooked chips!
The Perfect Tzatziki
Arguably one of the best sauces on the planet. Yoghurt that is oozing with garlic, cucumber, and lemon...it is simply incredible. She is the Queen of dips.
You'll need the following ingredients:
- Greek yoghurt
- Garlic
- Cucumber
- Lemon juice (always fresh)
- Salt
- Pepper
Assembling The Chicken Gyros
Once all of your ingredients are prepped, chopped, and ready to go. Warm or toast your flatbread, then top it with a generous portion of tzatziki, chicken, tomato, red onion, chips, parsley and more tzatziki...then serve up and enjoy!

Greek Chicken Gyros Recipe
Equipment
- 2 skewers
- Ninja Foodi MAX Dual Zone Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 1 large flatbread (I bought a huge garlic and herb flatbread from Tesco)
- 1 tomato, cut into 6 wedges
- ½ red onion, sliced
- Small bunch of parsley, roughly chopped
Chicken Marinade
- 2 chicken thighs (skinless and boneless), sliced into chunks
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- ½ tablespoon mixed herbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ lemon, juiced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Chips
- 2 large potatoes, sliced into 1cm thick wedges
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
Tzatziki
- 2 tablespoon greek yoghurt
- ½ cucumber, grated and squeezed to remove any water
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- ½ lemon, juiced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- First up, marinate your chicken thighs in your "chicken marinade" ingredients. Set aside for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, slice up your potatoes into 1cm thick wedges and toss in your olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the chips into one of the compartments in your Ninja Foodi Air Fryer.
- Transfer the chicken pieces onto your two skewers and place into the other Ninja Foodi Air Fryer compartment.
- Set the Ninja Foodi Air Fryer at 200C for 16 minutes and press MATCH so both the chicken and the chips finish cooking at the same time. Make sure to turn them over halfway through. You'll end up with crispy chicken and beautifully cooked homemade chips.
- Gently slice the chicken off the skewers to give you small chunky pieces of chicken, ready to assemble for your gyros.
- Meanwhile, put together all of your tzatziki ingredients in a bowl. Make sure to squeeze the cucumber to drain out any excess water!
- Chop up and prep your red onion, tomato, and parsley.
- Heat up or lightly toast your flatbread, and then layer it with tzatziki, chicken, tomatoes, red onion, parsley, and more tzatziki. Roll up your gyros (I used some baking paper to help hold it all in place) and then serve up and enjoy!
